I'm perplexed. It's time to move up from my loyal B8200HST which has always been eager for abuse. I started at the Kubota store, but looked at the blue and green machines just because I didn't want to do housework on Saturday. I liked the look of the TC33D, but the JD4310 has specs that put the other two to shame. But the worst is that the Kubota guy is practically giving me a new B7800 with 6' Woods mower ($13,000 and my B8200). The Kubota looks like a toy compared to the other two, and it is over 1000 pounds less machine than the JD. What I really like is all the cool stuff on kwschum's tractor. I have to have that grappel bucket thing. Any advice to a 25 year Kubota owner?

I'd go the L-series to match up with Ken's tractor for attachments. Ask your dealer what he would sell you the tractor for outright as you might want to sell yours on your own. The good old orange is still built as rugged today as they were when they built your 8200. ....

Having never owned a Kubota I'm partial to green, but I must say you can't go wrong with any of these three brands. The JD 4310 is more money than the Kubota 7800, around $19000 with loader, which buys better specs. The orange equivalent would be the L3130 I think. I found prices of the L3130 and the 4310 to be about the same and the specs were awfully close too so I shopped ergonomics and quality of the dealer. If you like orange and have a good dealer you can't go wrong that way. Although the grapple in my pics is green, Borgford sells them for all brands and if you ask they may even paint it orange for you :) ....

Forgot to mention, I looked at the TC33D too but was disappointed in the lift capacity of the 7308 loader at the time but I liked everything else about that machine. They were supposed to come out with an updated tractor and the 14LA loader that had much better specs. Not sure if the new models are out yet or not. ....

The JD dealer just called to tell me he will give me $4,800 for my old B8200. He was also curious if the weight in the specs was accurate so he took a stripped 4310 across the street to a truck scale. The spec must be wrong. The tractor weighed 3100 pounds, and that's without a loader or filled tires. How can there be such a difference? I keep trying to find a reason not to buy the JD, but I think it will be in my garage this Saturday. ....

Personally, I own a NH, but there is certainly no reason to avoid owning the JD. You will be very pleased if the deal works out for you. Make sure that you can work with that dealer, because as you know, tractor ownership is a long term thing. ....

The manual says a 2WD 4310 is 2600 lbs and the MFWD is 2900 lbs. (may be dry weight). Where did you see a higher figure? Deere seems to have a problem with mistakes on their literature at times... ....

Two hundred pounds sounds like a lot of weight, but I would bet most of that could be accounted for in something like the weight differences between Ag and Industrial tires plus the inclusion of mounting brackets for the FEL and the SCV set-up, which is an option on the tractor.
A full tank of fuel would add 70+ pounds. ....

I went to the Deere dealer this past weekend and took a drive. He said Deere is doing a promotion that ends on the 28th.
His discounted prices to me for the tractor was $13,830.00
12/12 Power Reverser was +$1,000.00
E-Hydro Transmission was +$2,000.00
Dual SCV/Joystick and single rear (for backhoe) +$800.00
He quoted extra big R4"s +$400.00 extra
Standard non-folding ROPS N/C
JD 430 loader, Hoodguard & 60" bucket +$3,050.00
Frontier 1084 Rear Blade +$525.00.
Deere gives you a $400.00 rebate if you buy (2) attachments (i.e. loader & backblade). Deere also has a $600.00 discount if purchased by end of month. If I went with the e-Hydro it would have been $19,605.00 plus tax.
I always buy my tractors with rear hydraulics even if I don't plan to use it. It is much cheaper from the factory and helps resale. If you go with a backhoe you need the folding ROPS, so you don't bump the back of your head. The Mid PTO was $349.00 but didn't ask for that option.
I liked the bigger 27x8.5-15 Front and 43x16-20 Rear R-4's. R1's are standard with no cost increase. Standard R-4's were +$200.00 and R-3's(turfs) were +$300.00.
For the $1,000.00 more, I liked the E-hydro. If I decide, I may go up to the 4410.
Everything was in stock. ....
